Place Foch

Drawn in the early nineteenth century, Place Foch (known as the palm trees' square) meets the old town which was the suburb (now Fesch street). At the top of the square there is the statue of Napoleon as a Roman consul, the work of Roman sculptor Massimiliano Ploughman. To the left of the Bonaparte street, there is the statue of the Virgin of Mercy (A Madonuccia) who is protecting Ajaccio, celebrated on March 18th.
