The University of Corsica Pasquale Paoli

The university was founded in 1755 by the illustrious General Pasquale Paoli, the heart of the city of Corti, the capital of independent Corsica (1755-1769) to provide quality training for executives of the young Corsican nation and to propagate the philosophy of the Enlightenment. Its headquarters, located at Palazzu Naziunale is reinvested in 2004 by the Presidency of the University of Corsica who decides to install the main decision-making bodies of these services in a highly symbolic gesture, and entering this place in a historical continuity momentarily interrupted. The doors of learning were closed following the French military conquest of 1769 and could not reopen until 1981, thanks to a strong mobilization of the Corsican community. Today it has about 4,000 students in a city that is close to 6800 souls.
