Station Ponte Novo: Corsica and the independence during the 18th century

Very important place in Corsican history, a great battle took place May 8th 1769 in Ponte Novu. Troops from the King of France came through the region of the Nebbiu and the Corsicans down from Castagnicia. Corsican people lost the battle at Ponte Novu. It is said that in the river Golo, it took three days for the blood to leave the water. Pasquale Paoli then realises that his dream of independence is over. It marks forever the memory of the Corsicans and remain the island hero. NB: If the bridge was partially destroyed, it is because of the bombing of the Second World War. Other interest in Ponte Novo: The miniature village Carriolo. Jean Claude Marchi reconstituted in his garden a Corsican miniature village. Communal house in the village café, mill fountain, the details are pushed to the extreme ... perfect for a family visit.
