The "Province of the Cap Corse" was born in 1592 at the time of the Genovese domination. In the Middle Ages the Cape belonged to the Pope, then until 1284 it was under the authority of the Republic of Pisa. Greeks, Romans, Moors, Saracens and Turks also landed there, settled and then left. They are the ebb and flow of temporary settlements. Facing them, rebellious sea-peasants defended their land and traded with the outside. Cap Corse knew its golden age in the 19th century. The 20th is the recession.
