The inland towers of the Cap Corse

Built between the 13th and the 17th century, square towers of the hamlets capcorsins are castles and a symbol of social prestige. Their owners, lords and notables had to protect the people of the hamlets and locked themselves up in case of attack of pirates or barbarians. Often abandoned in the 60s, they have been restored and are again inhabited. Each municipality has at least one. Morsiglia with nine towers still standing, is top of the list.
