Diane pond & fishermen island

This pond with an area of 600 hectares is classified by the RAMSAR Wetland Convention. Port of war and commerce (Dianae Portus) under Roman occupation in 259 BC, the pond Diane was already renowned for its oysters that Roman exported to Roma. Over the years, a cluster of fossilized oyster shells gave birth to Fisherman's Island at the centre of the pond. Today, seafood from the three activities of the pond (fishing, aquaculture and shellfish) are eaten in a restaurant on the water. Source: Office of Tourism Oriente
