Saint Jean Baptiste Church (XVII-XVIII)

The current imposing proportions of the church, was built between 1636 and 1666 on the site of a former chapel. This neoclassicism style church is the biggest one in Corsica. The bell towers have been added later, the left one in 1813 by Tomaso Quadri, a Swiss master mason and the right one in 1864 by a local architect, Paul Augustin Viale. The elegant colonnade just before the side door, on the market place, was built under the first empire in 1809-1810. The church was classified historical Monument in1999. Bastia tourist office
